Do drivers need a card machine?
Not necessarily. App-based fares are normally handled through the platform. A card reader may be relevant to a driver who also operates an appropriately licensed independent private hire business and accepts permitted direct payments. Drivers must comply with licensing rules and their operator arrangements; this is not a recommendation to bypass Uber bookings or take unlawful street hails.
